Insights on Site

On Saturday, thirteen members of Historic New England’s Historic Homeowner program attended an exclusive “Insights on Site” workshop on the Care and Feeding of Historic Wood Windows.  Attendees received an in-depth review of the window work funded by the Save America’s Treasures grant and the Massachusetts Historical Commission and an overview of the history of the double hung sash.

The members were then treated to an open house in the Preservation Carpentry workshop where the ongoing restoration work of many of the Beauport windows was used to expand upon the challenges and opportunities in preserving wood windows.
The Historic Homeowner membership gives owners of old houses access to personalized technical support on all aspects of owning and caring for their home. Exclusive programs like the Insights workshop are an added benefit which those attending on January 31 enjoyed greatly, judging by the questions and comments of the enthusiastic attendees.
